Who We Are
RoohConnect is a matchmaking service for Muslims, currently in its pre-launch waiting-list phase. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you join the waiting list, take our survey, or use this website, and the rights you have under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
RoohConnect is a service provided by Laiba Technologies Limited, a company registered in England and Wales, which is the data controller responsible for your personal information. Our registered office is 10 Nolan Mansions, Honour Lea Avenue, London E20 1HE. You can contact us about anything in this policy — or to exercise your data rights — athello@roohconnect.co.
Information We Collect
- Waiting list: your email address, the form you used, your consent choice (with its date and the wording version you agreed to), and your unsubscribe status.
- Survey (optional): your answers — gender, age group, dating-app experience, relationship goals, frustrations, and feature preferences. We do not ask for your name or contact details in the survey.
- Feature feedback (optional): the features you select as most valuable — collected anonymously (no name, email, or IP address), so it cannot be linked back to you.
- Technical data: your IP address when you submit a form (used to prevent abuse and spam), and — only if you accept analytics cookies — usage data collected by the analytics tools listed in the Cookies section below.
We do not collect your name at this stage, and we ask you not to include personal details of other people in anything you send us.
Special Category Data
Because RoohConnect is a service for Muslims, joining our waiting list or answering our survey may indicate your religious beliefs. Information that reveals religious beliefs is "special category data" under UK GDPR, and we only process it with your explicit consent(Article 9(2)(a)), which we ask for at the point you sign up or start the survey.
You can withdraw that consent at any time — use the unsubscribe link in any of our emails, or email us and we will delete your information. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal.

Who We Share It With
We do not sell your personal information. We use a small number of service providers (processors) to run this website; they may only use your information to provide their service to us:
- Render — website hosting and our database (the database is located in Frankfurt, in the EU).
- Resend — sends our emails.
- Cloudflare — network security and content delivery in front of the website.
- Google (Analytics, Tag Manager) andMicrosoft (Clarity) — analytics and session insights, loaded only if you accept analytics cookies.
International Transfers
Your information is stored in the EU (Frankfurt), but some of our providers process data in the United States — including our web server (Render), email delivery (Resend) and, where you consent to analytics, Google and Microsoft. Where information leaves the UK or EU, we rely on the safeguards in these providers' data processing terms — the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and/or EU Standard Contractual Clauses. We are working to move more of our processing into the EU.
How Long We Keep It
- Waiting-list details: until our launch communications conclude, or until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them — whichever is sooner.
- Survey and feedback responses: up to 24 months, then deleted or fully anonymised.
- IP addresses from form submissions: up to 12 months (we are reducing this).
- Analytics data: per the retention settings of Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity.
We review what we hold at least every 12 months and delete what we no longer need. You can request deletion at any time.
If you unsubscribe, we reduce your record to a minimal suppression entry — your email address marked as unsubscribed, the date, and which sign-up form you used — and we delete your IP address and consent details at that point, so we can honour your choice and never contact you again. We rely on our legitimate interest in respecting your opt-out and meeting our PECR obligations for this. Ask us and we will delete it entirely.
Data Security
All traffic to this website is encrypted (HTTPS), the connection to our database is encrypted and access to it requires authentication, and we collect the minimum we need. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect your information from unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.
Your Rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- access a copy of your personal information;
- have inaccurate information corrected;
- have your information erased;
- restrict or object to our processing;
- receive your information in a portable, machine-readable format;
- withdraw your consent at any time (unsubscribe link in every email, or just email us) — without affecting processing that happened before;
- not be subject to automated decision-making (we do none).
To exercise any of these, emailhello@roohconnect.co — we will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) atico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. If you are in the EU, you may also complain to your local supervisory authority.
Cookies and Analytics
We only set non-essential cookies if you choose "Accept" on our cookie banner. If you do, these tools run:
- Google Analytics + Google Tag Manager — visit and usage statistics (cookies such as
_ga, retained per Google's schedule). - Microsoft Clarity — heatmaps andsession recordings of how the page is used.
If you choose "Reject", none of these load. Your choice itself is stored in your browser (local storage), not in a tracking cookie. To change your mind later, clear this site's data in your browser settings (the banner will reappear on your next visit) or contact us.
A Few More Things
- Providing your information is entirely voluntary — it is only needed if you want to join the waiting list or answer the survey.
- We do not use automated decision-making or profiling.
- RoohConnect is intended for adults aged 18 or over.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date, and the updated version will become effective upon posting. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will tell you by email where we can.
